On the first page after the flickr home page you can choose "groups." (the choices are photos, groups, people) If you enter "black and white" or "children" or whatever terms fits your search, then you get groups of photographs that match your search. The pictures look high quality and maybe easier to search.
On the "explore" pull down menu on the same page, the "world" and "places" are neat tools that could have lots of educational applications. The "world" has a world map background and two search options. I did forests as the first option and then Canada as the second. The photos appear as small thumbnails and then in addition, they tag the photos origin on the map. Cool!
